Why I hate Fraternites

Amanda Espinosa

It must be awful

To be a deer struck down by a car

Struck down by a force you cannot possibly understand

Although time is no sweeter a killer

To an animal who cannot understand death

The fear in a dog’s eyes

As its owner and mother comforts

Its weary bones to silence

Holds true to the moment

Before sound and light crash into nothing

The last grasp of life

It is a moment I will only know once

A feeling unfamiliar

But not wholly unknown

Holding my bags tightly in my hand

Staring at a wall of light and sound

Harmlessly into the night

Latinoamérica

Bryanna Martinez

Vencimos

Porque somos Latinoamérica
